Lisichansk has always been known for its soda ash plant. Ernest Solvay built this plant in late 19th century basing on the unique process that is used even today. Specialists of Scientific and Research Institute of Basic Chemistry (Kharkiv, Ukraine) were invited to the plant by people’s deputy Sergey Dunaev and believe that new plant project is quite realistic. NIOCHIM will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023 and has gained international recognition during its existence. It engineers plants over the whole world, the latest projects were implemented in India. And still during Soviet times scientists from NIOCHIM visited this plant in order to increase its capacity and develop it further. Chalk from Belogorovka carrier can be used as raw material, as it was done previously. Two sites in Donetsk and Lugansk Regions are viewed as options for the plant location. Of course it is up to the state to create favorable conditions for plant construction, as well as to be interested in such projects. Because nowadays Ukraine has neither own glass nor soda plants.
