State Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemistry (NIOCHIM) is a complex institute including scientific and design divisions.

NIOCHIM provides such services as:

• Research in the field of soda ash and connected products process engineering;
• research in development of novel inorganic chemicals;
• improvement of processes and equipment of chemical enterprises and control systems;
• complex engineering of chemical enterprises including:
  • general layout; process engineering, architectural and construction design; engineering structures; mines and pits; brine wells; heat, water, gas and electric power supply, plus sewerage systems;
  • development of standards for MPD (maximum permissible discharge) and MPE (maximum permissible emissions), environment pollution norms, labor protection, estimation of factors affecting the environment;
  • development of design documents on equipment for chemical and related enterprises;
  • provision of construction equipment, organization of construction works, etc.;
• NIOCHIM develops research and development prognostic scenarios and programs aimed at improvement of plant performance and competitiveness of products relating to our specialization; successfully develops international cooperation in the field of research and engineering of chemical plants;
• NIOCHIM develops standards, technical specifications for chemical products, legal and regulation documents on labor protection in soda industry;
